Scarecrows and pumpkins abound in the country this time of year. You can make this cute little scarecrow necklace by gluing candy to a raisin box and using a round piece of taffy for his head, would make a great class project too!
Each scarecrow will need:
1 round piece of taffy, wrapped (head)
2 Tootsie rolls (arms)
2 rolls of Smarties or Spree candies (legs)
1/2 ounce box of raisins (body)
Low-temperature glue gun (Parents, remember to supervise children whenever using
hot glue guns.)
Ruler
Scissors
Small piece of raffia or straw
Glue body parts together using the raisin box as the body, legs attached to the
bottom corners of the box, arms attached to the top sides, and the head to the
top of the box lid.
Measure and cut five 4" pieces of raffia and tie 4 of them together into a
bunch by knotting the fifth piece around the center of the bundle. Glue knot to
the top of the body (raisin box), at the base of the head. Making it look kind
of like a bowtie. Trim the raffia if needed.
Cut a long piece of raffia to make the necklace, being sure it will fit over the
child's head. Glue the center of the strand to the back of the box and tie the
ends together. Your edible necklace is ready!
